外婆告诉我，这是雷坪过年特有的风俗，叫作“粘鸟嘴”。这些插满了糍粑的竹枝要在除夕之夜放置到田间地头。等贪吃的小鸟们飞来吃糍粑，黏黏的糍粑就会把它们的嘴巴一下子粘住，来年就不能再偷吃地里的稻谷啦。
“真的吗？小鸟的嘴巴真的会被粘住吗？”我不禁为小鸟们担心起来。

我拎着姐姐给我的一个小竹篮，迷迷瞪瞪地跟着他们跑出了门。一下子，我被眼前的景象惊呆了。村里到处都插着粘鸟嘴的竹枝——家家户户门前、田埂上、池塘边、小路旁，甚至山坡上都是，就像村子里一夜之间冒出了无数开着花的树。而这些“开花”的树旁，已经有很多小孩在你争我抢地“采花”，也就是把竹枝上插着的糍粑摘下来，放进自己的篮子里。
原来，这些糍粑经过除夕之夜的摆放，已经完成了“粘鸟嘴”的任务。到大年初一的早上，小孩们就可以把它们取走，称为“摘鸟嘴”。不管是谁家放的，谁摘到就是谁的，还要比赛谁摘得多呢。难怪大家都起得这么早啊！
我们三人立刻加入“摘鸟嘴”的混战。木亮弟弟把篮子夹在膝盖间，两手左右开弓地揪糍粑。木洛姐姐个子高，她可以跳起来把别人够不着的竹枝拽下来。而我手忙脚乱地抓了一把又一把，常常把竹叶和糍粑一起抓了下来……
